Five energy-saving tips for your business

With colder weather very likely to be on the horizon, and with the current cost-of-living crisis and energy prices on the rise, now is the perfect opportunity to explore energy-saving options for your business.

Remember – even small changes can potentially make a big impact on your energy bills. It’s a good idea to think about any switches that you can implement to help make a difference.

Compare the market and choose a supplier who will benefit you

Depending on the individual circumstances of your business, you may find that switching energy suppliers could significantly affect your expenditure. There are plenty of price comparison websites available online. If you feel like you are paying a price that could be cheaper elsewhere, this is a good place to start.

Of course, with energy prices rising across the board, it is unlikely that there will be big savings at this time. You may be able to find a beneficial fixed rate or negotiate a slightly cheaper bill, which could quickly add up in your favour.

Think smart with a smart meter

When it comes to energy-saving, installing a smart meter can help.  This will let you see your current energy expenditure, giving you the information you need to identify what appliances or pieces of technology aren’t energy efficient, as well as the times of day/night that you are using the most energy.

Once you know which systems are costing you the most, you will then have the information you need to explore any energy-efficient alternatives on the market.

Energy-saving tips for your washroom

With both water and electricity in use, washrooms can be a significant contributor to your business energy bills.

Here are some tips to help save energy in these spaces:

  1. Switch to LED lighting – a standard bulb has a lifetime of 2,000 to 3,000 hours, while the equivalent LED alternative lasts up to 75,000 hours!1
  1. Install push taps on sinks – these not only help preserve water, but they are also a more hygienic option too.
  1. Consider motion sensor activated lighting if your washroom isn’t in constant use.
  1. Equip your washroom with energy-saving hand dryers – we have an excellent selection of energy efficient options.
  1. Fit toilets and urinals with water-saving solutions such as our Urinal Sani Sleeve.

Check your boiler

Servicing your boiler can also help you to save money and make your business greener by being more energy-efficient. A service will help ensure that your boiler is running properly and not wasting energy when heating water for your washroom, potentially saving you a considerable amount of money. Servicing your boiler could also help you to avoid future breakdowns – now that’s definitely a win-win!

Small energy-saving changes add up

The energy crisis is a struggle for many right now, so it’s a good idea to explore your options. By investing in energy-saving solutions and looking at ways to reduce your energy use, you will hopefully be able to make some savings.
