Handing out hygiene gongs at APIC’s Film Festival 2014

You might be used to seeing the glitz of the Oscars or the glamour of the BAFTAs, but we’ve found a film event that’s a little different, albeit less glamorous.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the fourth annual Film Festival at the 41st Annual Conference of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC).

Held at the start of June, the APIC’s Film Festival has been awarding filmmakers who spend their creative energy making people aware of the dangers of poor hygiene.

This year’s winner, entitled Today, I Vow, was a crowd-pleaser featuring healthcare professionals pledging to improve their hand hygiene in every part of their day.

While it might not sound as thrilling as Avatar or Django Unchained, the video stands as an engaging educational tool for use in hospitals and other medical practices.

Indeed, more awards should be handed out for anyone raising awareness of effective hygiene.

The most highly praised pieces of film act like an earworm of a song on the radio. Watch one well-made scene and it’ll carousel round your head for months to come. And if the medium is used effectively in an educational film, the message will create that carousel effect you need.

We pride ourselves on our ability to raise awareness of hygiene through our services. So, to make your business washrooms Oscar-worthy, give us a ring.
