As a company dedicated to protecting health through better hygiene and washroom practices, we recognise that improving hand hygiene can quite literally be, a lifesaver.
Rentokil Initial is a proud supporter of Global Handwashing Day, a global advocacy day that is dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap as an easy, effective, and affordable way to prevent disease and save lives.
Celebrated globally on October 15th, Global Handwashing Day was founded by the Global Handwashing Partnership and promoted by the World Health Organisation to help stop the spread of common germs and viral infections in 70 developing countries. It is also a reminder that soap is still the number one weapon in the fight against transmissible diseases such as diarrhea and lower respiratory tract infections. In fact, simple handwashing with soap at critical times — such as after using the toilet or before eating — can reduce the incidence of diarrhea amongst children under the age of five, by nearly half and respiratory infections by approximately 25%. Good hand hygiene is the best weapon in the fight to prevent the spread of common illnesses like colds and flu.
