The safe packaging and transport of clinical waste is governed by The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2009 (CDG) and ADR.
All our vehicles transporting healthcare wastes streams meet the rigorous ADR regulations and comply fully with the Carriage of Dangerous Goods. Our Service Technicians are fully trained in clinical waste handling and requirements under ADR.
Compliance with these regulations is paramount to ensure producers of clinical waste are fulfilling not only their duty of care requirements, but also their extensive responsibilities under health and safety legislation.
The regulations outline the requirements for compulsory driver training to ensure the correct segregation of the waste within the vehicles. This prevents waste spillages and any potential harm to the environment or human health.
All waste carriers, with a few exceptions, must be registered under The Controlled Waste (Registration of Carriers and Seizure of Vehicles) Regulations 1991.
With us, you can be confident that all of the products we use and transport operations carried out are fully compliant with the relevant UN packaging guidelines and transport regulations. We also have our own Dangerous Goods Safety Advisors to ensure that we manage and transport hazardous and offensive waste safely and legally to final disposal.
For all transfers of waste appropriate documentation must be provided. For non-hazardous waste this is usually in the form of a waste transfer note. We will provide you with the required annual waste transfer note covering all transfers of non-hazardous waste for a 12 month period. When you receive this documentation you must check this for accuracy purposes and notify us if anything has significantly changed. The return slip must be returned to us for full traceability.
This note will:
Keep your copy on file to help you during any audits you have from Regulatory Authorities.
