How to wash your hands

The answer is thoroughly! Here’s our quick guide:

- Wet your hands with clean running water
- Apply soap hand care products and lather well
- Rub your hands together vigorously for at least 15 seconds. Pay particular attention to all hand surfaces (the thumbs are the most commonly missed area when washing hands)
- Rinse well under clean running water
- Thoroughly dry your hands.

How long to wash your hands for

As a guide, try singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to yourself and wash them for that long. In a study, it was found that only one third of people wash their hands effectively when using a public washroom.

Hypoallergenic hand care products

If the hand care product is hypoallergenic it means it is less likely to cause an adverse allergic reaction. More and more customers are asking for hypoallergenic products, due to increased awareness and sensitivity to certain hand care products.
