Sustainability & Innovation

It is becoming increasingly important to protect our environment and Initial Washroom Solutions are committed to ensuring that we do everything we can to reduce the impact of our business in every area. 

Production

95% of our washroom products are manufactured in the UK - cutting out emissions that would have been released during transportation. 

Delivery

We spend a lot of time planning the routes of our service drivers to reduce our fuel consumption and cut down the emissions they release.  All of our trunking vehicles are now Euro 5 compliant ahead of the regulations coming in force in 2011, and our urban delivery vans all meet Euro 4 certification.

Processing

We've lowered our own water and electricity consumption by upgrading our facilities, including in investing in high-tech ecological facilities for our laundry processing.

Recycling

At the end of their lives, our Sanitact units and our eco-clear sleeves are fully recycled, and our roller towel cabinets are refurbished in order to prolong their useful life.  Some of our old floor mats even become dog mats!

Carbon Footprint

Reducing our carbon footprint involves our whole business, including our suppliers and customers.  By working together, we believe that Initial can have a significant, positive, long-term impact on the environment.   

We have teamed up with Groundwork an environmental regeneration charity, who will assist us with the assessment of our carbon footprint.  Groundwork will intially concentrate on our 3 Processing Unit locations and our largest Service Centre as well as our transport function to find out where further improvements can be made in lowering our use of energy, fuel and water.
