Anglesey county council selects Eden Foodservice in school catering first

Eden Foodservice has become the first private sector contractor to secure a group Local Authority contract in Wales for the provision of school meals. Under a three-year deal with Anglesey County Council, Eden Foodservice will provide catering services for 52 primary schools and 5 secondary schools within the area.

Eden Foodservice will offer a full range of catering services covering breakfast, mid-morning break and lunch. The company is committed to preparing all food on-site using fresh ingredients and will introduce a new menu with emphasis on healthy meals using more fruit and vegetables.

Almost 200 catering staff will transfer to Eden Foodservice under TUPE regulations safeguarding existing jobs and ensuring appropriate legislative compliance. In addition, ingredients will be sourced from food suppliers and producers in the area wherever possible, or the surrounding areas if unavailable in Anglesey.

Gwyn Parri, Head of Education at Anglesey County Council said: “Eden Foodservice has a vast amount of experience delivering large-scale group catering contracts within schools and we look forward to working with them over the next three years. This new partnership will enable Anglesey County Council to invest more resources than ever before into school meals, which will result in a wider option of tasty and healthy food for our pupils.”
