Peel Airports Appoints Initial Air Services

Peel Airports has awarded a three-year cleaning contract worth £1.1 million to Initial Air Services, part of Initial Facilities Services. Under the agreement, Initial Air Services will provide cleaning and support services at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Durham Tees Valley Airport, and Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield.

Initial Air Services will be responsible for all internal and external cleaning requirements throughout the three airports including both passenger and restricted access areas. The contract will utilise a range of innovative features including computerised inspection systems, robotic and battery-powered equipment, and specialist cleaning materials, to meet the unique needs of the airport environment.

Around 50 members of the existing cleaning team will move to Initial Air Services under TUPE regulations, ensuring appropriate legislative compliance and employee protection. This will also support the efficient transfer of the operation to Initial Air Services and prevent any related disruption and downtime to the cleaning service.

In addition to this latest contract win, the company provides dedicated cleaning solutions for a growing list of airports including Manchester, London Stansted and Nottingham East Midlands. Elsewhere, Initial Air Services also has cleaning units operating out of London Heathrow and London Gatwick.
