Initial Transport Services pulls out all the stops for undeground contract

Initial Transport Services had just four days’ notice before starting a new London Underground cleaning contract in February. They had originally been beaten in a tender to clean the 102 sub-surface stations operated by Metronet on the Metropolitan, Hammersmith & City, and Circle and District lines. But Metronet terminated its agreement with the contractor it appointed after discovering that cleaners were not receiving the agreed rates of pay. Initial Transport Services was asked to step in with immediate effect, a total of 350 staff were involved, all of whom have been inherited from the original supplier.

“This was a phenomenal effort by everyone involved from across Rentokil Initial UK Cleaning and Initial Transport divisions, especially those in the HR and Payroll departments,” says Michael Bullock, Managing Director of Initial Specialist Services. “To put in place arrangements for such a major contract in this kind of time frame is nothing short of a miracle... and my thanks goes to everyone who worked tirelessly to achieve this fantastic result.”
