What is Pre-Acceptance?

Pre-Acceptance is required by all Clinical Alternative Treatment Plants, to identify a more detailed description of the composition of all waste before it reaches their site. 

As their customer, we now have to provide documentary evidence to the Alternative Treatment Plants where your waste is being processed, that the waste you have produced is suitable for that Alternative Treatment Plant.

Who does this apply to?

All producers of healthcare waste who's waste is sent for disposal at an Alternative Treatment Plant must complete pre-acceptance. This includes, but is not exclusive to:

  • Dental Practices
  • Veterinary Practices
  • General Practices
  • Health Centres
  • Care Homes (providing nursing care)
  • Research Laboratories (producing clinical waste)
  • Hospitals
  • Ambulance Services

How does this apply to me?

To ensure your waste is suitable for any chosen method of disposal, all your waste streams must be audited, documented and relayed to appropriate parties including all final disposal site. Failure to do this may leave you in breach of your duty of care responsibilities, which can lead to prosecution and unlimited fines.

To guide you through this process and complete your duty of care
we will provide you with:

  • an on site audit to determine your various waste streams and the appropriate methods of disposal
  • correct classification of all your waste and advice regarding EWC codes
  • the most appropriate packaging for your waste types and frequency of collection
  • records stored on file and required information passed to final disposal sites
  • we will initiate an annual review of all of the above to help you keep compliant
